BUTTE CHOICE ENERGY

A PLACE FOR ENERGY CHOICE

HOW IT WORKS

Community Choice Aggregation (CCA) is a program that allows cities, counties and other qualifying governmental entities to purchase and/or generate electricity for their residents and businesses. Once the local CCA is formed, in our case Butte Choice Energy (BCE), it will purchase and/or generate electricity for customers and PG&E will continue to deliver the electricity and provide meter reading, billing, and maintenance services for CCA customers. Customers will not notice any change other than a line item on their utility bill that replaces the PG&E electric generation charges.

CURRENT STATUS
&
AGENDA

  • The process of forming the Butte Choice Energy CCA is currently on hold. The cost of power and long term renewables, including solar and storage, has increased significantly, resulting in challenges that will need to be overcome before we can continue on our mission to provide residents of Butte County an alternate power provider. The Butte Choice Energy Board of Directors will meet in the coming months to discuss next steps in this process. Information about upcoming meetings will be posted online at buttechoiceenergy.org.
