HOW IT WORKS
Community Choice Aggregation (CCA) is a program that allows cities, counties and other qualifying governmental entities to purchase and/or generate electricity for their residents and businesses. Once the local CCA is formed, in our case Butte Choice Energy (BCE), it will purchase and/or generate electricity for customers and PG&E will continue to deliver the electricity and provide meter reading, billing, and maintenance services for CCA customers. Customers will not notice any change other than a line item on their utility bill that replaces the PG&E electric generation charges.

On November 5, 2019, The Butte County Board of Supervisors and the Chico City Council entered into a Joint Powers Authority agreement, creating Butte Choice Energy Authority.

BCE will provide residents of the unincorporated area of the County as well as the City of Chico and City of Oroville two options for power supply. More information will be sent to each customer well in advance of the launch date.
